A distinction between the US and International versions of CNN needs to be made here...CNNI had hours and hours of live Iran coverage all weekend right from when the results were announced early Saturday US time. The outraged on Twitter should re-direct their anger towards the US domestic news media in general - CNN were no better or worse then their US counterparts in this.

I take your points, but to the Twitterverse: re-direct your annoyance as #AmericanDomesticNewsFAIL - CNN has not failed it's international audience one bit.

every major news station seems to have a theme that they focus on all the time that isn't really related to news... logical conclusion: listen to public radio or watch PBS

@Jenn - yeah, I know that the perception of mainstream media being a "news source" has gone the way of the Dodo bird about five years ago. I still subscribe to the belief in television news - not sure why I'm still interested in it, but I am. I want these news stations to succeed but I'm also a advocate of looking at what the web & technology can offer in terms of advancement of news to the general public. I guess I'm never satisfied. That can't be a bad thing, can it?

@livenewstoday - you're absolutely right. I've checked Twitter & there are some people who said that the international stations are broadcasting what's happening in Iran. I did not include that in this blog post. However, I wanted to use #CNNFail as an example on why mainstream media is failing to be more targeted. International stations with US headquarters like CNNi are only geared to...well...international interests. Why isn't CNN (which most people will tell you is where they go to watch news - that and MSNBC or FOX) broadcasting the same stuff on their station - isn't it important for Americans to know what's going outside that might affect their interests - since it's not Afghanistan or Iraq?

Twitter has been point on this. It's recognized that it's not a geocentric method of communication. It is truly the international network of news - a global citizen web network.
