Hi Conrad – thanks for your comment. I think that there is some potential in not only Twitter usernames but any social network username having some value that follows along the lines of web domains. Perhaps not costing the same amount, but there could be some high value placed on certain usernames.

Just take a look at what happened with CNN and the @cnnbrk Twitter handle…current Twitter policy does not allow usernames to be sold, but in the future, what if it did? How much would CNN have paid for @cnnbrk? What if someone set up @yahoo or @google and didn't work for the company?

It's the same thing with domain names. This possibility does exist…but may not happen for a long time…at least for profit. Drew's case as illustrated in the post is a bit unique since it went for charity.

Would love to hear more about your thoughts on this issue!

I think it is ludicrous to say that a twitter username will have equal or greater value than a web domain.

If you seriously believe this you must forecast scores of twitter usernames selling for millions in the near future.

Switching to WordPress is all a matter of personal preference. I know people who are perfectly fine with using Blogger while others use WordPress. Granted that there are more free templates and customizations that can happen with WordPress. It's entirely your choice.

i like this blog layout. how did you get the twitter “follow me” gadget on the side? i just started a blog on blogger this summer, but my layout is too stale. should I switch to wordpress?
