Does Time-Sensitive Blogging Exist?

I think to a certain degree that certain things need to be blogged in an instant, but I want to learn is whether or not regular issues that are reported, like the latest tech gadgets, political news, tv reviews, etc. are all things that need to be reported once they occur or would it be totally okay to report them a few weeks later or after the fact? It seems that if you don’t become the first one out of the gate to report on something, then there’s no point in blogging about it.

Take for example the recent release of Apple’s OSX Leopard on Friday night. Obviously that was never blogged here, but would it be pointless for me to write about it now, after practically thousands of reviews and blog entries have already been posted? Probably no point in posting after the fact, but what are YOUR thoughts?
